Freezing (vitrification) solutions are used to prepare for freezing (vitrification) and store frozen oocytes and embryos. Vitrification is an ultra-fast, ice-free freezing method that ensures better cell survival after thawing.

During vitrification, osmosis replaces water inside the cell with special cryoprotectants (dimethyl sulfoxide, ethylene glycol). Vitrification is suitable for oocytes (eggs), blastocysts (fertilized eggs) and embryos at the stage of division.

It is used in scientific biological laboratories, in fertility clinics.
